Scenes from the Network
As minds wander, ideas and images emerge and appear. Some fleetingly so, disappearing, never seen again. Others swirl and coalesce, forming lasting connections that repeat and change over time, becoming stories of self, some that may be real, others not so.
Scenes from the Network reflects the ways that our fluid, mind-wandering inner stories connect with and are shaped by our observations and experiences of the natural world. Using images and text, the series explores my experiences and encounters during a solitary road trip in El Norte Chico and El Norte Grande, Chile. The majestic, transcendental encounters with these landscapes cultivated and shaped speculations, day-dreaming, story-making and the imaginaries at the heart of the self and the human brain’s default mode network.
The series combines images of the forms and marks of the landscape created by humans and natural forces with the fragments, conjectures and repetitions of the internal narratives that have inhabited and now become part of me.
